Step into a world of wild inventions, daring experiments, and gloriously terrible ideas — inspired by Wallace & Gromit!
Join our eccentric inventor and their unamused assistant as they test out contraptions that go hilariously wrong — but teach us something right about the wonderful world of science and invention.
From flying teabags to fiery calamities, Brilliantly Bad Ideas is packed with chaotic comedy and real experiments, all performed live in our science theatre.
Perfect for families, curious kids, and anyone who’s ever asked, “What could possibly go wrong?”.
To kick off the show, we’ll be screening The 525 Crackervac — one of the short films from Wallace & Gromit’s Cracking Contraptions series, all about Wallace’s wonderfully eccentric ideas.

Join us for a fun and hands-on Gromit model-making session.
You’ll be able to get creative with clay and make your very own Gromit to take home with you.
During our summer launch weekend, the model-making sessions on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July will be run by an expert model maker who has worked on some of Aardman’s best-loved productions. They have lots of great anecdotes and insights into the wonderful world of Aardman to share too.
All claystation workshops from Monday 21 July onwards will then be delivered by specially-trained Techniquest team members.
We’ll also be screening the Wallace & Gromit Cracking Contraptions short films throughout the workshop. So you can chuckle away at Wallace’s wonderfully eccentric ideas while you get crafty!
